The town of Antholz / Anterselva – a hub for the biathlon – is not far from Olang / Valdaora. This is where the internationally renowned BMW IBU World Cup Biathlon is held. It’s definitely worth a visit – either to experience the thrilling suspense at the course when the top athletes compete or to yourself glide through the fantastic alpine panorama. It’s easy and convenient to reach the cross-country centers of the Antholz / Anterselva Valley, the Gsies/Casies Tal – Welsberg / Monguelfo – Taisten / Tesido, and the Upper Pusteria Valley (Toblach / Dobbiaco) by taking the Ski Pustertal Express and the ski bus (free of charge with the Premium Holiday Pass). Here in the heart of the Dolomites, you’ll find a 436-km-long network of perfectly groomed trails.

Wintertime hiking

When your breath fogs in the pristine winter air and the village is swaddled in the finest powder snow, the whole world seems to stand still for a moment. That’s the time to march off on a winter hike. To walk through the deep snow and hear the crunch of the snow under your boots… to forget your everyday worries. There’s no better way to free yourself of your inner tensions than to consciously rediscover the freedom of slowness.

From the family village of Olang / Valdaora, thirteen certified and posted winter hiking trails will lead you into the magnificent alpine world of the Dolomites. These trails are carefully groomed and maintained on a daily basis. There’s something for everyone. There’s such a variety of trails here: From easy walks, simple hikes through gentle fields and through the glittering winter forest. Of course, you can also undertake hikes in the open terrain – but for your own safety, this should be only when accompanied by locals familiar with the lay of the land. All in all, you can explore 47.5 km of trails before returning with rosy cheeks to any one of the numerous inns and ski huts along the way. The brisk winter air will stimulate your appetite for delicious South Tyrolean specialties and hearty Pusteria Valley dishes.

Tobogganing

When children, full of laughter and excitement, speed along the seven-km-long natural tobogganing course stretching from the Brunst Alm down the valley towards Olang / Valdaora you can sense the pure joy.

On the “magic carpets” in the Kids Area Panorama at the winter sport zone between Oberolang / Valdaora di Sopra and Mitterolang / Valdaora di Mezzo, your children can also enjoy tobogganing.

But watch out! It is important to learn how to safely steer and brake. We offer you instruction in safe tobogganing for groups of two participants or more.

Winter jogging & Nordic Walking

Mens sana in corpore sano – A healthy mind in a healthy body. Your cardiovascular system will thank you for it when, on sunny days, you go jogging or Nordic Walking amidst this fascinating winter paradise.

In Olang / Valdaora, you can combine your fitness program with your enjoyment of pristine nature – off of the public roads, on the thirteen certified and posted winter hiking trails that are carefully groomed and maintained on a daily basis. You can choose the route best suited to your personal tastes and level of fitness. After a tour in the fabulous winter landscape surrounding the Kronplatz / Plan de Corones, you’ll feel invigorated and energized. After a round of winter jogging or Nordic Walking, you can relax in the spa and wellness facilities at the Famelí, the first family hotel in Olang / Valdaora.

Horse-drawn carriages

There are also slower-paced activities to discover here. Vacationers who would rather not race along tobogganing courses can slow down and enjoy wintertime magic in a horse-drawn carriage.

A horse-drawn carriage ride over snow-covered meadows sparkling in the sunshine is exactly the right thing for you. As you glide almost silently over the snow, with only the snorting of the horses to distract you, you can snuggle under your blankets and admire the snow-covered trees and houses you pass by. It’s an ethereal, almost mystical experience that you ought not to miss. You can enjoy this romantic pastime at the Tolderhof in Oberolang / Valdaora di Sopra.
