Outings and sightseeing
That you’ll never forget
Mighty summits and the life in the region write unique and touching stories that come to mind when we see certain monuments or memorable sites. Thus, the approx six-meter-high sandstone man overlooking the valley reminds us of the Thar innkeeper, Peter Sigmayr, who made a name during the Tyrolean independence fight due to his steadfastness.
For parents and children, every day in Olang / Valdaora and the Pusteria Valley offers an exciting story to discover.
The Lipper Sawmill, another trademark of Olang / Valdaora, is the last still-standing Venetian sawmill and tells the story of the development and transformation of the wood industry in Pusteria Valley.
Numerous roundtrip trails – e.g., the “Schornstein” nature trail or the “Steinmeile” thematic trail – invite you to experience, to learn, and to enjoy. Children, too, will always find something new to stimulate their imaginations. Here in Olang / Valdaora, “boredom” is unknown.
The old sulfur bath of Bad Bergfall, the Untermühlbach lime kiln… Or the pointy Stöckl – all of these cultural monuments will give you and your children insight into the way of life of the people of a bygone era. In this way, you can become truly familiar with the family and active vacationing village of Olang / Valdaora.
One real highlight of the vacation region of Kronplatz / Plan de Corones is the Coronas Messner Mountain Museum. This museum focuses on the mountain and the life of the famous alpinist Reinhold Messner. The museum on the summit plateau of the Kronplatz / Plan de Corones exhibits unique collections, images, and objects collected by Reinhold Messner in the course of his life as a man between two worlds.
Olang / Valdaora is the ideal starting-point for day-trips into the vicinity, including to Bruneck / Brunico or Lienz (in the event that the weather in the usually sunny Pusteria Valley isn’t optimal). But there is a lot to discover: The Adventure Farmstead of Gsies, the indoor climbing facility in Bruneck, the Cineplexx cinema in Bozen / Bolzano, the farmsteads themselves where you can watch cheese and butter being made… or, of course, shopping in Bruneck, Innichen / San Candido, and Bozen as well as in Lienz in neighboring East Tyrol (Austria). Good times are guaranteed for everyone.
